About the Symposium

Flagship Specialty Partners is hosting the fourth annual symposium for practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeons and residents.

  • Date: Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19, 2026
  • Location: Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, South Carolina

This three-day event brings clinicians together to learn, collaborate, and build community in a relaxed coastal setting.


What to Expect

A balanced weekend of learning and connection
Our program blends high level clinical education with meaningful opportunities to connect with colleagues. Attendees can expect a mix of lectures, networking events, and free time to enjoy the resort and surrounding area.

Each lecture is designed to deepen clinical knowledge and support evidence-based, modern practice. Topics for the 2026 program include:

Networking and Social Events

Welcome reception
The weekend begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on Friday evening, giving attendees a relaxed space to reconnect and meet new colleagues.

Saturday afternoon at your leisure
Following the morning lectures, Saturday is intentionally designed with a large block of free time. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy the amenities of Wild Dunes, including biking, beach time, tennis, pickleball, fishing, kayaking, or pre-arranged golf tee times. This built-in break allows everyone to unwind, explore, and enjoy the coastal setting on their own terms.

Evening gatherings
Shared meals are an important part of the Symposium experience. Saturday evening features a casual dinner in a spectacular venue with entertainment where attendees can come together again after the day’s activities for conversation, connection, and camaraderie.

Dr. Daniel Spagnoli's Profile

Dr. Daniel Spagnoli Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Dan Spagnoli completed his PhD and dental degree at the University of West Virginia. He then completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. He has been in private practice but has maintained multiple academic appointments in several academic medical centers. He has also participated in multiple basic science and clinical research projects. He has numerous refereed publications and textbook chapters. He has been an invited lecturer on the national and international level for nearly four decades.

Dr. Perez is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon originally from San José, Costa Rica. He earned his dental degree with honors from the University of Costa Rica, where he later served as an instructor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After receiving a full scholarship for advanced training, Dr. Perez completed his residency at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, followed by an Orthognathic and TMJ Surgery fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

From 2009 to 2025, Dr. Perez was a faculty member at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry, where he served as Program Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency and contributed to clinical care in the outpatient OMS clinic. During his tenure at UT Health, he also maintained a busy private practice with a focus on orthognathic and TMJ surgery. He now joins a private practice in Southwest Virginia, where he continues to specialize in these areas.

Dr. Perez has authored over 42 peer-reviewed articles and 12 textbook chapters. His clinical and academic excellence has been recognized through multiple awards, including the 2020 UT Health Master Clinician Award and the 2021 Presidential Award for Clinical Excellence. His research interests include the surgical management of TMJ disorders and improving outcomes in TMJ reconstruction. A respected leader in his field, Dr. Perez is an active member of several professional organizations and serves as both an ABOMS board examiner and an ADA site visitor for OMS residency programs.


Dr. Mark Miller's Profile

Dr. Miller is a pediatric cleft and craniofacial surgeon and is fellowship-trained in pediatric craniomaxillofacial surgery. He is board-certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery and holds a certificate of added qualifications in pediatric craniomaxillofacial surgery from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Miller graduated with his medical (M.D.) degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and his dental degree (D.M.D.) from the University of Kentucky. He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in pediatric craniomaxillofacial surgery at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida.

Dr. Miller's practice emphasis is in pediatric craniofacial surgery, reconstructive facial surgery, neuroplastic reconstructive surgery, orthognathic surgery, repair of cleft lip and palate, and complex craniofacial conditions. He has dedicated his professional life to the care of individuals with facial differences.

Dr. Miller, the Associate Dean for Hospital Affairs for the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) residency program director, and associate professor, holds secondary appointments in the College of Medicine's Departments of Neurosurgery and Pediatrics. In addition, Dr. Miller is actively involved in and enjoys teaching medical students, dental students, and residents. He is a member of the American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association, a founding member of the Society of Neuroplastic Surgery, the American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Miller is a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan and continues to serve as a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve.


Dr. Andrew Jenzer's Profile

Dr. Andrew Jenzer is the Program Director of the U.S. Army oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. He is from Vermont, attended Boston College, and then Creighton University for dental school. He completed a four-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Fort Bragg and then became staff at the Army OMS residency at Fort Eisenhower in Augusta, Georgia, where he was also on staff for the residency at Augusta University. He completed a fellowship at Duke University in craniomaxillofacial trauma and reconstruction before moving to his current position in 2022. He is active duty and has been in the Army since 2006. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, and he serves as the Deputy Consultant to the Surgeon General on oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr. Rick Kapitan is a board-certified cleft and craniofacial surgeon with an ABOMS CAQ in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery. He specializes in full-scope oral surgery, with expertise in cleft lip and palate repair, craniofacial surgery, and full mouth reconstruction.

Recognized far beyond Charlotte, Dr. Kapitan is trusted by patients nationwide for his specialized cleft and craniofacial care.

Dr. Kapitan holds both a Doctorate in Surgery and a Master of Science degree. He completed advanced training in oral and maxillofacial surgery and anesthesia at The Ohio State University Medical Center and earned a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Kapitan directs both the Carolinas Center for Cleft Lip & Palate Surgery and the Envision™ Implant Academy, where he leads clinical instruction and educational programs for practitioners.

Nationally, he serves as a lecturer and clinical course instructor in advanced dental implant surgery for the Straumann Group and ZimVie. His clinical interests include complex cleft lip, palate, and craniofacial surgery, as well as jaw surgery and full mouth reconstruction.

Dr. Kapitan is deeply committed to restoring not only function but also confidence and quality of life for his patients.


Dr. Debra Sacco's Profile

Dr. Sacco graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and the UNC School of Medicine. Following completion of an internship in general surgery and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UNC, she was a full-time faculty member at UNC. While at UNC, Dr. Sacco was involved in research studies involving orthognathic surgery, erythropoietin, implants, and growth factors for bone graft reconstruction. Currently, Dr. Sacco continues focusing her practice on bone grafting, implant therapy, and orthognathic surgery in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Dr. Sacco has served as an examiner for the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. She has lectured at UNC, nationally, and internationally on implants and medical issues of concern to dental professionals. While a member and then chair of the CPMPSD, she taught surgical assistants in the AARC, ASL, and APME courses. Dr. Sacco has served the specialty through participation in and chairing numerous committees for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS), UNC, Duke Regional Hospital, and OMSNIC. While a resident, she was elected to the founding executive committee of ROAAOMS, serving as President during the early years. Dr. Sacco has mentored residents through the Osteo Science Foundation as well. She has served District III as trustee for the AAOMS for the last six years and is chief of OMS at Duke Regional Hospital.


Dr. Grant Coleman's Profile

Dr. Coleman grew up in the small town of Elba, Alabama, where he attended Elba High School. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a 4.0 GPA and a major in biological sciences from the University of Alabama in 1997. He went on to graduate with honors from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2001. Dr. Coleman completed his orthodontic residency at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in 2003 with a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science. He entered the private practice of orthodontics immediately after his graduation in 2003.

Dr. Coleman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. In 2003, he earned the Earl E. and Wilma S. Shepard Award of Distinction for receiving the highest score in the nation on the American Board of Orthodontics written exam.

His specific areas of interest in orthodontics include the biomechanics of tooth movement, efficient treatment of impactions, and the diagnosis and management of complex interdisciplinary treatments.

Dr. Coleman married his wife, Katie, in 2001. They have three beautiful children—Thomas, James, and Caroline. They live in south Charlotte, North Carolina.

When he is not enjoying the practice of orthodontics or spending time with his family, Dr. Coleman likes to spend time cooking, skiing, and hunting. He is also an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.


Dr. TJ Robbins's Profile

Dr. Robbins is a board-certified orofacial pain specialist who treats TMJ disorders, obstructive sleep apnea, trigeminal neuralgia and neuropathic pains, migraine and headache disorders, and neck pain. He helps his patients heal the hurt that no one sees.

Dr. Robbins helps patients understand their condition and supports them in making meaningful treatment plans, by utilizing a combination of medicine and dentistry. His motto is: “Helping to heal the hurt that no one sees.” He listens thoroughly and takes the extra time to understand every patient’s situation and their unique needs.

Dr. Robbins grew up in a rural area where he learned the importance of community, hard work, and teamwork. He loves working alongside the skilled team at the Carolinas Center for Oral & Facial Surgery who care about their patients, staff, and community. He enjoys practicing the full scope of orofacial pain, including treatment of temporomandibular muscle and joint (TMJ) disorders, sleep breathing disorders (obstructive sleep apnea), trigeminal neuralgia and other neuropathic pains, migraines and other headache disorders, neck pain, and other painful conditions.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from Utah Valley University, Dr. Robbins graduated dental school at the University of Pittsburgh. While studying dentistry, he began experiencing jaw pain, neck pain, and headaches. He realized that many of his patients faced similar circumstances. After seeing multiple doctors, Dr. Robbins discovered the field of orofacial pain. He decided to dedicate his career to helping patients with these conditions. He completed a residency in Orofacial Pain and Dysfunction at the University of California, Los Angeles.
